I was privileged to have lunch today with two, well-seasoned brothers in the Lord. Both of them live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and they both are involved in unique expressions in the Body of Christ.
Our discussion over our salads consisted of the different expressions of “church” we had experienced, a little bit of modern “church” history and some of the things we are seeing presently in the Kingdom. All in all, it was a delightful time and extremely edifying.
On the way home, I considered how necessary migration is in our journey with Father. I realized that I wouldn’t know Him in the manner that I do if I had held to my particular indoctrination growing up as a child and my “preparation for ministry”.
Essentially, migration is movement from one location/position to another. Migration is required in our mentality towards God, the Bible, Church, Kingdom, Heaven, etc…….. Migration is a result of revelatory knowledge received regarding Christ and Father’s heart. Migration is a necessary component of being a disciple.
No, I’m not saying that there are no absolute truths that can be known and are non-negotiable. I’m just saying that most things we tend to ascribe to in our walk need to be reconsidered; especially if you aren’t progressing in your walk with God, becoming more Christ-like in your character and seeing Him more accurately, powerful portrayed in a corporate expression.
Most believers I am strongly connected to, like the two wise brothers I shared lunch with today, exist as migratory beings who refuse to encamp around what they have always known and choose to LIVE, MOVE & HAVE THEIR BEING in Him!
Experiences like today, just a seemingly commonplace lunch, can turn into life altering events whenever Life and Love are present in the midst of brothers who are enjoying one another and the journey they are on……………..migrating……moving forward towards Him!
I will leave you to mull over the thought of migration with the words of our dear brother Paul as recorded in Philippians 4:
12-14 I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.
15-16 So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.
17-19 Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal.
As you migrate, keep your peace!
