One Step Away!

From conversations I’ve had thus far today…….I feel impressed to reblog this post which I originally shared back in May of last year!

You, dear reader, be blessed and encouraged! Greater is He who is in you, than he that is in the world! Don’t fall to pieces……….Keep your peace!

An extremely wise man once told me, “Never surrender the sense of His presence to a situation!”  That adage was born from years of real life, spiritual experience.  It has stuck with me over the years and has proven very beneficial to me.  So, I thought I would take a minute or two and share it with you along with some random thoughts off the top of my head.  I know there are those who need to be encouraged with this today.

Scripture is clear, the just are to live by faith; not by sight.  In dealing with the situations and circumstances this fallen world presents to us, it is easy for a believer to focus on facts, be distracted from Truth and  abandon the awareness of His Presence in our lives produced by the spirit-to-Spirit connectivity afforded us in the New Covenant.

In today’s society, the average person receives well over 7,000 different “messages” a day through inter-personal contact, electronic and social media and other methods.  Stop and consider how many of those messages are God-breathed or inspired versus how many of those are steeped in the spirit of this age.  In essence, our minds are being bombarded!

For the average believer, it doesn’t take much to break the connection between their born-again, spirit man and the Holy Spirit and, thus lose  the assurance of His Presence.  The Truth of New Testament faith is Father has done ALL that is necessary to not only “abide and dwell” in believers but that He has also given us the promise that He would never leave us or forsake us despite situation or circumstance.  However, there is an adversary that seeks to bring separation from that assurance and he attempts to do so by assaulting our minds with doubt, presenting us with apparent harmful situations and mounting an attack led by a spirit of fear!

Therefore, it is vital to do as scripture instructs us when it tells us to be renewed in the spirit of your mind.  As a believer, our old mode of living  is to be abandoned and living by the witness of Spirit to spirit is to be assumed. The mind is to be renovated with all its faculties and powers becoming spiritual in nature or being governed by the Holy Spirit; not remaining carnal.

As Paul states in 2 Corinthians 10:3-4: (MSG)

The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.

There comes a time in the life of a New Covenant believer when, regardless of the situation confronting them,  the initial impulse is to be FAITH based upon Father’s Word and guidance by the Holy Spirit instead of paralyzing fear produced by the situation being presented.  As a believer matures, it is possible to learn to partake of Father’s Nature first and not default to the fallen nature.  Sadly, due to a multitude of reasons, believers are rarely discipled and equipped to function in this manner.

In Isaiah, chapter 11, we have a prophetic announcement of Christ and the manner in which he would function while here in the earth:

The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over him,
the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit that gives direction and builds strength,
the Spirit that instills knowledge and Fear-of-God.
Fear-of-God will be all his joy and delight.
He won’t judge by appearances,
won’t decide on the basis of hearsay.

The record of Jesus’ actions in the New Testament scriptures reveals that he did, indeed, function that way.  For Christ- followers, the initial step in operating that way for today is to truly believe that:

The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit,

[assuring us] that we are children of God.

And if we are children, then we are heirs also:

heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ;

Romans 8 encourages us that we can expect to share in the same Spirit to spirit witness that Jesus functioned in while walking on this planet.  So, my prayer for you, dear reader, is the prayer that Paul prayed for the Ephesian believers, found in Ephesians, chapter 1:

[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,

By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),

And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,

Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places],

Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.

I hope you take a few minutes to meditate and consider the words of scripture above.  They are good seed for the Spirit to use in increasing your faith and awareness of His Presence!

Now, if I may, I would like to offer one final attempt to encourage you in practicing the awareness of Father’s Presence in your life.  Below is a link to a song by a brother named Jason Upton.  I would encourage you to click on the link and watch the video with the lyrics to the song.  One of the main lyrics in the song is, “If we open our eyes……we are gonna see Him!”  If, in faith, you ask for the Holy Spirit to open your (spiritual) eyes, I firmly believe that the Comforter, Advocate and the One who is assigned to lead/guide you into all truth will do precisely what you ask!    ONE STEP AWAY

Listen, you are being bombarded by worldly and even quite possibly demonic messages today.  Take a little time and hear what the Spirit is saying to you!  Be encouraged!

Keep your peace!

  1. Believing “into” Jesus Christ (every reference in John’s gospel is “into”, not “in, into is present and active, “in” is static and passive) is the moment by moment, full time work and warfare of this life.

First, excellent post! Meditate on the Word of God is very important because when we find ourselves going through tough time it’s as if we feel like God’s presence is far away from us while His presence is way more real than those around us.
