It has been a great day! I had an extreme amount of Happy Birthday wishes and a multitude of love expressed through the course of the day. I am exceptionally grateful and humbled by all of those who took time out of their day to say “Happy Birthday” and send blessings my way. It truly means quite a bit to me.
My perspective on birthdays and the corresponding celebrations have significantly changed for me over the years. You can read why here, if you desire to do so.
Now, as I approach personal birthdays, I prayerfully consider what my existence on this planet happens to mean for Father’s purposes and for other people. I’ve been bought with a price and my desire is to fulfill the intention of that purpose by glorifying God in my spirit and body which now belongs to Him. Psamls 90:10/12 says:
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off and we fly away.
So, teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
My prayer since that day back on June 10th, 2006 is for Father to teach me to number my days and aid me in applying my heart unto wisdom so that I can make each and every day count for the Kingdom. Chances are, realistically, that I have lived well over half my life by turning 48 years old today. No man is promised tomorrow so we truly need the wisdom to make every moment count. I’ve discovered that the pursuit of stuff and things, whether they be material or for reputation, are a waste of time. What matters is people and the opportunities we have to show them the love of Christ. We have to make it count!
Because of the transition that Misty and I currently find ourselves in, moving from one house to another, I am keenly aware of Father’s material blessings and provision for us in this season. I am very thankful for ALL He has done for us. But, when I consider the lives of those precious people that He has seen fit to connect us to and I hear their hearts as they express their love, honor and appreciation for me, I am overwhelmed by His goodness.
Life on this planet is short. In scripture it is likened to a vapor in the wind or the grass in the field. Yet, the Eternal Life He has provided through His Son can permeate our existence as we fulfill our days on this earth. That Life is designed to be established in the hearts/lives of all those who receive Him and is to be shared and dispersed abroad from our lives into the lives of other people, whether they believe in Him or not. Constantly seeking to do so will prove to be a life well spent.
So, I would like to thank everybody for the gifts, expressions and well wishes. They mean more than you will ever know. However, I want you all to consider that YOU are the gift given to me that I cherish the most!
Keep your peace!
